Regular readers of this blog may have noticed that I have been having a love affair with Scarlett & Jo’s prom dresses and separates for a little while now, and I ordered a number of them from Evans back in the summer to try.
One of these items was the beautiful Scarlett and Jo Multi Floral Print Prom Skirt (£48.00).
Unfortunately the stock photo of this skirt has since been removed from the internet so you’ll just have to look at my photo instead!
I ordered the Scarlett and Jo Multi Floral Print Prom Skirt in a size 14, as this is the size I usually go for in Scarlett & Jo’s stretchy garments.
It’s such a pretty combination of colours!
For reference – and because I know some readers find it useful to know – I am wearing my Ewa Michalak S Pieprzyk 32KK/70KK bra in these photos, along with some black high heeled shoes from Primark. I have teamed the skirt with the Scarlett & Jo Black Jersey Crepe Top (£28.00). The top is the perfect match for the skirt, and you can read my review of the top here.
When my Scarlett and Jo Multi Floral Print Prom Skirt arrived in the post and I opened the packet I was speechless at how gorgeous it was in real life – believe it or not it’s even more lovely than it looks on screen! The purples, blues, greens, and white blend together perfectly to produce a print that is incredibly feminine, striking, and unique.
The fabric itself is soft and feels of good quality, but there is no stretch to it. There does not need to be any stretch, however, as the Scarlett and Jo Multi Floral Print Prom Skirt is flared and should fit most women. The most important fit is the stretchy waistband, so if you’re wondering about what size is best then base your decision on this.
As with the other prom skirts I’ve tried, the Scarlett and Jo Multi Floral Print Prom Skirt’s length is absolutely perfect. It hits me mid-calf, and I am 5’4 and a half in height. There is a black underskirt that helps give the skirt some additional volume, as well as adding a bit of warmth for these cooler months.
The thick black elastic waistband of the Scarlett and Jo Multi Floral Print Prom Skirt cinches my waist and makes me look even more curvy. It acts rather like a belt and helps to hold the tucked-in top in place.
With the variety of colours in the Scarlett and Jo Multi Floral Print Prom Skirt, it would be possible to pick any of these out and match them with a top in that hue. As you know, I am wearing the plain black Scarlett & Jo Jersey Crepe Top in these photos, but it would be great fun to wear something different and more colourful. How about a pretty purple blouse, or perhaps a thin knitted top in blue? There are myriad possibilities for complementing garments, and also for accessories and shoes, too.
I am so impressed with the Scarlett and Jo Multi Floral Print Prom Skirt – for me, it is perfectly designed for the plus size figure and I have seen it work on a variety of body shapes. That is the beauty of social media these days as people love to share their ‘OOTD (Outfit of the Day)’ photos.
I am very much looking forward to seeing what the brand come up with next. What would you like to see from Scarlett & Jo in the future?

I think this skirt is specially designed so that it works well on everyone! I have seen lots of plus size blogger’s wearing it in different print’s and they all look incredible. What makes you think it wouldn’t look good on you? <3
Nichola, thank you for your comment. It is indeed a lovely skirt, and I am sure it would look wonderful on you! Is there a reason why you think it wouldn’t? It works for every body shape I’ve seen it on so far. Perhaps it would be worth giving it a try to see how it looks on you before dismissing it – I strongly suspect you will be pleasantly surprised.
Anonymous, I completely agree. The skirt looks stunning on everyone I’ve seen it on, in all different shapes and sizes. In fact, I would go so far as to say it looks best of all on larger bodies. Just my opinion, mind, and of course the only opinion that actually matters is the person wearing the garment/outfit.

I love this outfit! Do you think it would work with tights? I would like to wear it in autumn and winter to brighten up the dreary days but don’t want to get a chill from having bare legs!
Hello there, I would sometimes wear hosiery with this skirt but on this occasion I chose not to. These photos were taken back in the summer on a particularly hot day, so I couldn't bear to put on any additional layers! It would definitely work with tights, though. You could wear black tights, which would pick out the black of the waistband, or choose one of the colours in the skirt instead.
It makes a change to see you with bare legs as you so often wear leggings or tights with skirts and dresses. Not a criticism, just an observation and actually an inspiration as I am all too quick to cover my legs myself. You have helped me see that it’s not always necessary to do that so I will be working on my leg confidence from now on! Thank you x

As you say, I usually choose to wear tights or stockings with a skirt or dress, but on this particular occasion it would have been too much as I took these photos on a very hot day. I think the skirt is so bright and summery that bare legs suit it well, but it would also look good in colder months with tights.
Regarding leg confidence, I am so glad you found this post helpful.
For me, my main reason for wearing leggings or tights is because of thigh chafing. I cannot go without some sort of covering on my thighs when I am out and about, and leggings and tights are the simplest solution. I do sometimes wear anti-chafe shorts, but I don’t find them as comfortable as they can ride up and I am met with my usual issue of needing a large size for my hips and thighs but a small size for my waist, so the fit is always off.
It’s true that I am also not a fan of my legs as they are big, but I feel the thigh chafing issue is part of that so if I could go bare-legged without the risk of thigh chafing then I think I would have thrown caution to the wind and gone for it a long, long time ago. Tights and leggings (and anti-chafing shorts!) make me hot so I would love to be able to wear them simply for fashion reasons rather than having to wear them out of necessity.
If you want to have bare legs more often – and there is no law that says you must; it’s your body and therefore your choice – I suggest progressing in small steps so that it will feel like less of a big change. Maybe start off by having bare legs at home and in the garden. Then try wearing a maxi skirt or maxi dress with bare legs and cropped trousers/culottes. Over time, wear slightly shorter skirts and trousers/shorts with bare legs, and eventually hopefully you will feel comfortable enough to wear a knee-length skirt with no tights or leggings.

My goodness, is there anything you don't suit?! My favourite plus size blog ever, please never stop writing! Although my credit cards say different but lets ignore them ha ha! I have ordered two of these prom skirt’s to try, hopefully they will suit me too x
I so wish I had bought this a few weeks ago when I saw it in the sale in my local Evans store but I wasn't sure it would suit me so I left it. I went back yesterday to see if it was still there but of course it was long gone. I am so sad! I wanted to look as beautiful as you do on your blog. I'll grab one next time for sure!
