About me

Here’s where you can read all about me, including how and why I got into blogging.

About me: Who am I?

I’m a fortysomething woman living in the south east of England. I have been writing this blog since 30th September 2011 and have very much enjoyed seeing it grow in popularity and reach, and growing my audience through my social media channels (links below).

About Me

About me: Why I blog

My aim is to help women with curvaceous figures like mine to find lingerie, clothing, swimwear and footwear to suit their bodies. I want women to know that even though it may take some time and research, there is hope out there for us and there are ways of making fashion work for our bodies. I believe that every woman deserves to have access to fabulous clothing, regardless of her shape and/or size.

About me: Why ‘Curvy Wordy’?

Curvy Wordy got its name thanks to the fact I have a voluptuous figure, coupled with my love for writing. I use the word ‘curvy’ to describe my shape, rather than my size.

About me: Curvy Wordy reviews

The reviews I write are completely unbiased, even when the item has been sent to me for review. My opinions and words are all my own. All posts are written by me, unless expressly stated otherwise.

About me: Sizing

My current sizes (as of 14th July 2018) are:

Height: 5’4 (and a half!)

UK bra size: 34M (75M in Ewa Michalak). Please note that sometimes I wear swimwear in a smaller cup size (typically 34K) as it is very rare to find bikinis and swimsuits in my actual cup size. I also occasionally cheat with lingerie sizing so that I can try pieces intended for ‘personal wear’ only, so a perfect fit isn’t always a necessity.

UK dress size: Varies from brand to brand and highly dependent on fabric but usually a 14-18 in stretchy fabrics and 18-22 in non-stretch.

About me: Work with me

I am very happy to work with businesses and brands on a variety of levels; please feel free to get in touch to discuss any possibilities here.

  1. I am so happy I found your blog. It is so helpful and it is clear you take a long time on your reviews and photos. Thank you for your hard work! I didn’t feel confident about ordering from Ewa Michalak until I read your blog and now I own 6 bras from them! I hope they pay you commission lol! From an appreciative fan in Ireland x

    1. I was nervous ordering from Ewa too until I found this blog and Curvy Wordy’s page on Bratabase (what an amazing resource that site is). I can’t afford 6 sets like you but I do own 2 for now and hoping to get another one for my birthday next week. I am so grateful to this blog for helping me find a bra that fits me properly!

  2. Oh my, you are gorgeous! Wish I was as curvy as you! xxx

  3. It’s nice to find out more about you. I love your blog, it has helped me so much. Thanks x

  4. I am not hourglass shaped like you, but I do have 34H bust and a chubby middle (34H-32-38). I find H&M very good for dresses. Their sizes are generous I find and there is always enough fabric to go over my boobs. I usually only need a 10 or a 12 in their clothes. Sometimes smaller.

  5. The clothes don't make you look good. You make the clothes look good. :)You are amazing.

  6. I agree with Tracy – YOU make the clothes you review look stunning. You are an inspiration to all us hourglass women. Thank you. Please keep writing x

  7. I just had to write you. I love your blog and everything about it. Your lingerie posts have inspired me to finally get properly fitted (I went down three band sizes and up 8 (yes 8) cups!) and as a plus size woman your fashion posts have made me seriously rethink my wardrobe. You have the most fabulous sense of style and sophistication and I hold you as the perfect curvy role model. I only wish I lived in the UK so I could get you to take me shopping with you! Keep up the wonderful work and know how much all your readers appreciate the effort you put into it and how many lives you touch on a daily basis.

  8. At the risk of sounding like a complete stalker, I absolutely adore you and your blog. A few months ago I was feeling down in the dumps about being a plus size woman but thanks to you and your wonderful blog I now see myself in a completely different light. I see how it IS possible to find clothing that works for me and a whole new world of lingerie has opened itself up to me. I had no idea how many places in the UK there were to get fitted professionally, rather than somewhere awful like M&S. And the plus size clothing available on the internet is great and you have helped me to find new options for this. Thank you for writing and for changing my life and I hope you will continue with your blog for many years to come. I always look forward to reading your posts xxx

  9. I'm almost the same size as you: 46-30-45I was so glad to find a woman curvy like me!I struggle a lot here in Brazil to find bras that fit me. I normally don't, they are always big in the band and my back aches a lot. Now I can read your reviews and try to find the perfect bra overseas!I wish you loads of success. You are beautiful!

  10. I'm almost the same size with similar shaped breasts. (I'm 46-31-46) I'm now excited to follow you on bratabase and look through your blog to find some good leads for myself. Thanks from women like me who had long given up on looking good.

  11. I'm hoping you and your blog readers can help me…I'm getting married in June and the husband to be loves turquoise coloured underwear. There is loads of choice available in this colour if your bust size is 'average'. I'm struggling to find anything in a 32DD…any help or advise would be much appreciated!

    1. Bravissimo have some lovely turquoise options in a 32DD, have a look over there 🙂

  12. You are the Ewa Michalak queen! Would you ever model for them? They would be so lucky to have you. I have bought so many bras from them thanks to you!

  13. Can I say *thank you* SO much for putting your measurements?! I have been browsing all through your blog, having stumbled across it whilst searching for bra information, and kept thinking 'wow, she looks great, my arse must be about 5 times her size though!' – its NOT! 😀 OK, its a few inches bigger still, (but shrinking at the moment as I firm up), however its so encouraging to see someone not that different from me looking just so amazing! THANK YOU again! 😀 Unfortunately I now live in Australia rather than the UK, so finding clothes is a massive issue (long story), and shopping online can be rather hit or miss, so thank you as well for all the lovely lovely pictures as it really helps decide what to get and not have to spend stupid amounts posting stuff back that doesn't fit 🙂 You're a complete star and SO stunning!

  14. Thank you for all your bra reviews, they are so helpful. I would love it if you could add a list in your "About Me" section with the brand, style & size you wear for the each of the bras you review or wear. I think it would help so many ladies with similar measurements to see it all lined up as far as what fits you.

    1. All that information is already on here somewhere, just not on this page. Also you can find it on Bratabase. Don't ask her to do more than she already does, she works so hard on her blog and does it in her 'spare' time so as readers we shouldn't put even more pressure on her. Do the ground work yourself!!

  15. Thanks for your blog.I hail from the US, where they are apparently afraid of shapely women. I am 5'2": 34j or 36H in UK sizing. (or 48-34-46). Its so nice to see someone that is kinda shaped like me. Makes me feel like less of a freak.

  16. love your style you always wear such perfect dresses to suit your shape you are an inspiration to me x

  17. Thanks, finally a blog for us curvy ladies! Being a size 18,brasize 36k myself, I think your blog is extremely encouraging. We curvacious women can look gorgeous and sexy! Thanks a million!

  18. I loved reading all about you! I have been a fan of your blog for a while but somehow never noticed this page…probably because I was always running to buy the latest item you reviewed before it sold out LOL! You have helped me so much with my confidence and also my fashion and lingerie choices. I placed my first Ewa Michalak order a month ago and was massively impressed! Definitely a convert.
Thank you for all that you do for the busty and plus size communities. We appreciate you!

  19. Excellent blog! Keep up the good work. You help so many of us women, thank you so much!

  20. I just came across your blog, I'm 55 size 14/16 and 34jj having seen you in a bikini and my body being not dissimilar you gave me confidence to buy bikini's and feel ok about having a little bit of wobble..you are wearing some of the ones I bought…keep up the good work

  21. Love this so much! Your blog has made such a difference to me, your body positivity and the way you embrace life is contagious! You are such an inspiration to me. Please keep blogging forever, thanks to you I have discovered brands like Ewa Michalak, BiuBiu and Simply Be. Honestly changed my life. Thank you x

  22. As a woman in my 40’s there are very few bloggers who are around my age. Therefore I am so happy to have found you! Can’t wait to take a closer look at all your blog posts and reviews.

  23. I have just found your blog…I wish I had known about it a long time ago! Your reviews are so honest and helpful to me as a UK size 22 woman and there aren’t too many plus size blogs arounf these days. I really hope you write some more posts soon as I would love to get some up to date fashion inspiration from you.

  24. I find your blog so helpful! It has challenged me to change my thinking about my body and be kinder to it. I am also making a concerted effort to wear what I want instead of what is ‘flattering’. Thank you for being here, I appreciate you <3

  25. Bonjour gorgeous, I love your blog so much! Really love how you cover so many different topics, it’s so interesting and very useful! And your style tips are second to none, I totally blame you for my over-stuffed wardrobe, or should that be wardrobes hahaha, full of beautiful dresses and skirts! And I got my first Ewa last month too thanks to your wonderful blog <3
