Monsoon Teal Viper Dress

When I was up in Leeds in July for Plus North, I had a couple of shopping trips to the wonderful White Rose shopping centre.  I visited various stores whilst there, including the fabulous Evans, but this post is about a gorgeous dress I managed to snare from Monsoon.

I can’t say I am a regular shopper in Monsoon as the few times I have been in there I have not found anything I liked.  However I was delighted to find that this teal Viper dress was in the sale for £27.50, reduced from £55:

Unfortunately it’s not available online so I can’t link to it but there’s a similar print here.

I went for a size 10 as it’s made from 97% viscose and 3% elastane so it stretches to fit my curves.  Without the belt, the dress is very baggy on my waist – there is a thin gathered elasticated waistband but it makes the whole waist area very loose on me so this is easily addressed by the addition of a belt.

Length-wise it rests on my knee but I am short at only 5’4 so taller ladies would find this comes up a bit shorter on them.

I love the fact it’s a wrapover v-neck as this is the most flattering neckline on me and I can preserve my modesty by wearing a vest or cami underneath.

Teal is my favourite colour and I love a bit of animal print so it was a real delight to be able to pick up a dress that combined the two!

I wore this outfit when we all went out on the town on the Saturday night and I was so comfortable!  I wore the dress as per the pics above, with my ever-faithful Sweet Nothings shaping leggings (available from TK Maxx) and gorgeous wedge heeled sandals from Aldo.  They’re perfect for my wide feet as they have adjustable straps across the toes and they have a really comfortable cushioned sole.

I had a slight quality issue with this dress and took it back to Monsoon on the day after Plus North.  Lovely sales assistant Sarah was incredibly helpful and I ended up buying a second one of these dresses as I know I will get a lot of wear out of it.

Thanks to discovering this fabulous bargain, I will definitely be popping into Monsoon more often – I had no idea they had such gorgeous curve-friendly clothing.

I remember using a site a while back which recommends shops for you based on your measurements and Monsoon was one of the ones it suggested as best for me. I'd never considered it before as I assumed it was all expensive and old-fashioned, but I was quite pleasantly surprised!
