Forever 21+ Swimwear 2018: Plus Size Strapless Cutout One-Piece Swimsuit in Yellow

I am trying to share with you as many pieces from Forever 21+'s 2018 UK swimwear collection as possible - and it's proving to be quite the task! But I trust it's a worthwhile one as I hope my photos and reviews will help you pick out some really cute pieces this summer.

Today I am bringing you the Plus Size Strapless Cutout One-Piece Swimsuit in Yellow.

When I saw it online, I fell in love with the bright colour of this swimsuit, and of course yellow seems to be THE colour to be seen in this year, so I was really excited to give this a try. I ordered it in a 1X, which is labelled as a UK 20, but I would say it is more like a UK 16.

The yellow was every bit as pretty in real life as it was on the F21 website, hurrah, and if anything, I actually liked it more as it was a paler, lemony yellow rather than the primrose hue it appears to be online. I don't think it looks at its best on my pale skin, but with a tan or in particular on darker skin it would truly POP!

It's listed as a strapless swimsuit but thankfully for those of us with larger boobs it comes with a removable thin neck strap. For me, the suit would have been utterly unwearable without it!! Although thin, the strap did not feel uncomfortable or dig into my neck.

There is no formal boob support, so no hidden shelf or underwires. The swimsuit does come with pads to protect one's modesty in the bust area, but as always I took these out straight away as I find them nothing short of annoying. They move all over the place, fold over, and generally look unsightly.

The tie on the central bust area is fully functional, so depending on your boob size and weight you may be able to use it to give you a bit of additional support if you position your boobs correctly and tie it nice and tight.

I really liked the cut-out panel underneath the bust. This is a really unusual look and it highlights the tie on the bust area.

It was nice to have no shoulder straps for a change...although with my heavy boobs I really do need them to help give support to my bust.

The swimsuit is cut fairly high in the leg but not uncomfortably so, and across the backside the coverage is good and arched for maximum tanning potential.

As much as I loved many aspects of this swimsuit it wasn't a keeper for me in the end as it was no match for my 34LL boobs. But if you wear a cup size even just a few below mine I'd urge you to give this one a try as it really is fabulous! And it also comes in a new colour - rust - that wasn't available at the original time of writing this review. You can buy the swimsuit in either colour here.

What do you think of this swimsuit?

  2. Seriously your going to bankrupt me 😆 I just bought the red bikini from your previous review but now I’ve seen this on you I definitely need it too! Do you think the sizing between the swimming costumes and the bikinis is about the same? I mean if I have the bikini in a 2X do you think a 2X in this swimming costume would be the right size? XX

    1. Hehe...sorry not sorry! I try to put sizing info in each post that is pertinent to that individual piece, so have a look and compare my findings. If memory serves then yes, a 2X in each should be pretty similar, but do double check.

  3. This colour looks great on you, it suits you really well, I think if it had been the same colour as shown on the website it wouldn’t have looked so good. My friend has ordered it after I showed her your post, she is black and I think it’s going to look epic on her.

  4. I wear a US 22, which would be the best size for me? I can’t find a size chart for plus sizes on the website.

    1. I’d try a 3X to start with. F21’s sizing can be a bit hit and miss, so you might have to size down depending on how you like things to fit.

  5. I have been looking for a swimsuit that doesn’t have straps and it did not occur to me to try Forever 21 so thank you! I’m a uk 20 so do you think 1X would be best or should I size up?

    1. I’d start with the 1X and go from there. Or order a few sizes and send back what doesn’t work!
