Roman Originals Polka Dot Dress

I love a bit of polka dot.  It's such a pretty and feminine look and is smart enough for work but also fun enough for nights out.  I have been looking for a polka dot dress for a while but haven't had much luck in finding one in a stretchy fabric.  I guess that's fair enough as stretch could make the polka dots lose their circular shape, but even so I have been keeping my eyes peeled.

A few weeks ago, I came across this gem from Roman Originals:

It's a lovely dark navy blue dress with large white polka dots.  And the fabric is stretchy - perfect!  I managed to get my hands on a size 12 dress and here are the results...

It's such a great dress!  The stretchy fabric does not cause the polka dots to become misshapen, thank goodness, but instead the dress follows my curves flatteringly and shows my curvy figure off well.

There is a wrapover section at the bust and as you can see the size 12 covers my modesty adequately, whilst still showing a bit of cleavage.  However, if I was wearing this dress for work I think I would add a vest underneath just to make sure I didn't reveal anything unintentionally!!

The dress is pulled in at the waist by the waistband, although for that extra cinching effect I could add a belt.  It'd have to be navy or white, of course, which might be tricky to find but it would certainly be worth the trouble.

I love the 3/4 length sleeves, particularly as we head into autumn and winter.

The dress comes down to my knee, which is a great length on me.  The skirt flares out a little and is not fitted like many of my other dresses so it makes a nice change.

I think this dress would be perfect to be smartened up for a wedding, or jazzed up for a night out.  It would also be appropriate for work but I think it is too nice for that!

Do you like polka dots?

    1. Nichola, hello!!! So lovely to hear from you. In fact I was just thinking about you earlier today and telling myself I must write that blog post (honestly!!).

I have never seen this dress on the website, oddly enough. It's actually in the sale in stores for just £15 (I paid £35 for this, ouch!) so you might find it a few shops down from you ;-)

  2. I am a huge fan of polka dots; my swimsuit for work is even covered in them! I generally dislike patterns but polka dots seem tolerable, for whatever reason. I have the dotty spot by bravissimo and love it! As far as wrap dress go, every company should offer them...

    1. Ooh I'd love a dotty bikini! And I agree about wrap dresses and ones with a crossover bust - so flattering.

    1. Aww Amy, thank you :-)

Your dress sounds amazing. I will have to do a bit of accessorising with this to see what works best - I daresay a red belt would look pretty good! x

    1. I don't think you will be able to get hold of this one, sadly. It's not available online, and there's only a few left in stores in the sale. I am sure you can find something similar though if you Google it.

  6. Um, I love polka dots...

I know this is a fashion/lifestyle/stream of consciousness type of blog, but I don't suppose you'd mind a comment from a male of the species, would you? And an American, to boot?

    Ahem *clears throat*...

    Rrrrrrooooowwwwllll!

Really, it's not my fault...my wife gave me the link to your site. She did it! Anyway, she's a busty lass, too, so she was probably taking a gander in her search for good...support.

    Fun blog, btw. Mike
