Curvy Kate Tempt Me Black Gold

As I explained in my previous post, I was fortunate enough to win three Curvy Kate lingerie sets of my choice for providing the inspiration for the name of Curvy Kate's new bra, 'Smoothie'.  I thought long and hard about what to go for and in the end could not resist the lure of the gorgeous Showgirl collection.

The second set I tried was the Tempt Me in black/gold.

This set was not available in my usual bra size so I went for a 32HH, which I was pretty much certain would be far too small for me.

I was absolutely correct in my assumption :-(  But I still wanted to post my review of this set as it is amazing and I wanted to show how it looked on me.  This set oozes elegance and I felt very special indeed when I put it on.

The bra is a deep plunge style and it was a thrill for me to try on something with such a low centre gore.  The first pic shows how brilliantly the cups pushed my breasts up and together - so much so that they almost looked fake - but sadly the two sideways photos demonstrate that I had major quadraboob going on!

Bizarrely I could not fill out the bottom of the cups, no matter how much I tried to squish my boobs down into them.  I can only assume the cups are cut shallower at the bottom for some reason - I wonder if ladies who actually fit this bra have the same issue?

The bra is made from gorgeously soft gold satin-type fabric cups that are partly overlaid with plain black mesh which has embroidery detail towards the tops of the cups.  There are two gold coloured buttons on the central gore and a simple black ribbon bow adorns the point where the straps meet the cups.  The band is stretchier than the other Showgirls I tried and has three rows of three hooks.  The straps are plain black and are fully adjustable.

The matching shorts are soooo sexy.  They have the same satin/lace design on the front but the back section is simply sheer black mesh with a cheeky peephole in the centre at the top (my picture might not show how sheer these shorts are because I was wearing a thong underneath for hygiene purposes and have edited it out). To top it off, the shorts come complete with detachable suspenders - perfect for every occasion.

Out of all the three CK Showgirl sets I tried (reviews of the Thrill Me Grape/Jade and Tease Me Black/Wine are available elsewhere on my blog), I am most disappointed that this one did not fit me. It is classy, seductive, elegant and stylish...and I recommend it without hesitation.  I will hope and pray that one day CK might make it in a size that would fit me.

  1. Sadly, I've found that CK's Showgirl range doesn't fit me either... I would need something like a 26J. :( Maybe they'll expand the range in the future?

One thing about not being able to fill out the bottom of the cups, even when the cups are too small... I once heard this being compared to putting an orange in a short, slightly tapered glass. Even though the orange is too big for the glass and bulges out of it, the very bottom of the glass is still empty because the orange is too big to fit down into it. Kind of the same with a too-small bra cup sometimes - your boobs are too big to fit down into the bottom of the cup. A bit strange, but it made sense to me!

  2. Do you mind sharing how you found the width of the wires on this bra? I'd love to try it, but like Christine I'm worried I'd need a 26. But if the wires are more narrow then some of their other styes or a similar size in Panache, I'll take it and alter the band smaller.

  3. I'm sorry to say I found the cups a little too wide for me, which is ironic because I couldn't fill the bottom of the cups! The cups measured 21cm across and the wires were 29cm long. All the measurements are on Bratabase here http://bratabase.com/browse/curvy-kate/tempt-me-sg4001/32HH/

With regard to the cup depth issue, it felt like the sections on the lower part of the cup had been cut too narrowly, if that makes sense, but then the mid and upper areas of the cup were fine (but too small for me).

  4. I fit the tempt me (more or less) and have the same issue with not filling the bottom of the cup, presumably to push the bust up, which it most definitely does. Curvy Kate sizing is very odd, I have the Tempt Me in Scarlet in 32F (my go-to size) and in Gold in 32FF, the 32FF is clearly a bigger bra, but fits exactly the same as the 32F, i.e. with minor overspill.

  5. Would you suggest this bra for a person that is full on bottom but is not so on the top?

  6. Would you suggest for a woman that is full on bottom but with narrow roots?

    1. Hi Zowye,

I would suggest entering your measurements into Bratabase (link at the top of the right hand sidebar) to see what recommendations you get. Because this bra wasn't the right size for me it's hard to give an accurate response.

However I would say that, as with all Curvy Kate bras I've tried, the cups are wide and shallow, so probably suit those with wider set breasts than close set.

      Hope this helps!

  7. I bought this in my more-or-less usual size 30GG which fits, but I still have the "not fill the bottom of the cups" issue, too! Have to readjust several times a day and, having quite close set breasts, I keep falling out of it, especially when I bend down (never happens with my Ewa Michalak plunges). Still, I bought it very cheap and it's quite beautiful, so I'm keeping it, but I find the Tease Me much better fit for my body type.
